June 22 – Catedral de Granada y Shopping
When I woke up I was still sick ( so my note says. Lol. It’s been a week and a half and I’m badly trying to catch up on writing my daily account). I do remember that I woke up very early in the morning, around 8:00am to go get a drink and use the bathroom. I slept terribly and was miserable all throughout the night. Anyway, Ma. Luz and Paco were already awake and invited me for breakfast. I had breakfast with them and planned on attending mass at 12noon. Well, since it was too early, I resorted to the most sensible action – going back to sleep. So I went back to sleep, woke up around 10:30, took a shower, then started walking.
I was running late (literally :P). The bells were already ringing and I was about 3minutes away from the Cathedral. Anyway, I did make it. The Cathedral was beautiful (true of all the churches I’ve been in Spain). It was so funny though because there was this one Chinese lady seated across the main aisle from me who said her responses louder than anyone else. She was dressed in all green and spoke Spanish with a heavy Chinese accent. At first, it was amusing. Then, it got annoying. I understand people who are enthusiastic at church but it annoys me when people want to be the loudest. Anyway, what was more interesting is that in front of me were 2 Spanish, traditional Señoras. I watched them closely and was amused by how they gave such dirty looks towards the Chinese lady’s general direction. Anyway, I wasn’t really paying much attention to tell you the truth. I’ll blame it on the fact that the church was so beautiful I couldn’t stop looking up, down, left, right and marvel. It occurred to me that these beautifully decorated churches are actually a distraction because people could be lost in a golden statue or golden moldings or tall marble columns or huge mural paintings. Anyway, I did catch that the gospel reading for the day was “don’t fear.”
After going to mass, I went to a souvenir store and bought almost everyone their gifts. That was nice to get out of the way. After that, I went to the internet café then went home.
